Phillip's '94 Toyota 4X4 Hilux Pickup
Welcome to my page about my 1994 Toyota 4X4 pickup. My truck is a humble one. She is not flashy or decked out, just practical. And even though she is mostly stock, she rarely has probles with any on or off-road routes. I bought her new on July 7,1994 with only 10 miles on her. Five years later she has over 118,000 miles and here is a list of everything that I have had to replace or repair:
Thermostat
All Fan Belts
Front brakes (resurfaced rotors and replaced pads)
Tires (I'm almost through with my third set)
.......hhmmm, That's it!
The Maintenance Schedule: Add gas, change oil and drive.
Here are the things that I have added:
K+N Air Filter (A MUST HAVE!!!)
Optima Battery (Super Strong!)
Class III Receiver Hitch (rated at just over 5,000lbs.)
TJM T-17 Steel Front Bumper
31x10.5R15 Off Road Tires (what ever I can afford on my limited budget)
Sheet Metal Tool Box (painted Hunter Green)
Here is what I have removed:
Front bumper (replaced with T-17 bumper listed above)
Front Stabilizer Bar (for better IFS articulation)
Here is what I carry in my tool box:
Hi-Lift 60" Jack Rated at 7,000lbs (ANOTHER MUST HAVE!!!)
Pul-Pal RS9000 (This thing is great!!!)
(1) 10', (1) 15', and (1) 30' X 3" Tow Straps (Never leave home without them!)
3 "D" Shackles rated at 6,000lbs each
1 "D" Shaclke rated at 4,000lbs
25' of 3/8ths inch alloy chain rated at 14,000lbs tensil strength (A MUST HAVE!)
Full Size Shovel
And of course a full set of tools.

Here we are testing out the legs in the Sierra National Forest.
Other Little Accessories (that will save your butt out in the bush!):
Dash Mounted CB Radio (Took out the ash tray and it fit in there nicely)
Radio Shack Programable Scanner
5 Watt Cell Phone
We have spent quite a bit of time out in the bush in and around Yosemite. The Sierra National Forest is my play ground. I am geared towards technical off-roading. This is the slow, challanging type of four wheeling like rocks and steep grades. I prefer to be thoroughly challanged and the limits of my vehicle pushed. My truck is modest with only the 2.4L four cylinder inline petrol fueled engine. It has the Independant Front Suspension (IFS) and solid rear axle with a two speed transfer case. she is geared with a five speed transmission and a three speed transfer case (2H, 4H, and 4L with Neutral) and I am running 31X10.5 tires on 15 inch stock rims. All differentials, torsion bars, body and suspension lift, and engine componets are stock and have never let me down. I have never been stuck out in the bush! I try new things and if things start getting a little too hairy, then I back off. Driving smart is the best way to have fun four wheeling. If you are not smart, then you will get stuck or worse you will get hurt.
